Post Jam Update


Thank you to everyone who played my game during the jam! Your feedback was super helpful and encouraging.

This update mostly focuses on fixing the very unclear (and somewhat nonfunctional) card combat system. Here's what's new,

Combat

  • The combat system should now function as intended
  • Reveal cards now actually use stamina
  • NPC chickens now consider the cost and potential outcomes of playing cards rather than always playing random cards in random spots
  • Added a chance for an NPC chicken to play random moves to avoid total predictability, this is also used to make some chickens easier to beat
  • Added an option to discard cards in combat
    Added a display for the total stamina cost of your played cards
  • Added stamina displayed as a number
  • Added time between actioning each card
  • Added the blank card to the player's deck
  • Added a sprite for knocked out chickens
  • Hid the 'end turn' and 'chicken out' buttons when it is not your turn
  • Lowered most of the chicken's maximum stamina

Resting

  • Chickens can not longer rest outside of a nest
  • Resting at a nest now increases your maximum stamina at most twice for every third of maximum stamina regained
  • Added a label 'i need to get to a nest' when you are out of stamina
  • Added a label 'REST' when you are on a nest and need to rest

Navigation

  • Chickens can no longer try and walk into the side of coops
  • As a temporary workaround to avoid a softlock, exiting the fancy coop will send you to outside the starting coop

Overall, the game should now be sightly more playable.
